SOFT CONTACT LENSES

Soft contact lenses are made of soft, flexible plastics that allow oxygen to pass through to the eye.  There are many types of soft contacts, either monthly or fortnightly replacement or even daily replacement lenses.  We also often fit multifocal contact lenses to allow people with both long and short-sightedness to see at all distances.  Another common setup is biasing the eyes, so one eye sees longer and the other eye at a closer range.

HARD CONTACT LENSES

Hard contacts are made of a firm, durable plastic that transmits oxygen meaning your eye won't risk drying out. They offer excellent eye health: because they don't contain water as soft lenses do, they resist deposits and are less likely than soft contacts to harbor bacteria.  Hard contact lenses are either used for difficult short-sighted eyes or eye diseases like keratoconus.

ORTHOKERATOLOGY

(ORTHO-K)

Ortho-K is the only non-surgical procedure that allows you 20/20 vision without the use of correcting lenses during the day. Instead, these lenses are worn while you sleep at night. As a result, you can live life without having to worry about your vision- allowing you to enjoy sports, concerts, and water-based activities. These lenses may also reduce short-sightedness for up to a few years, putting off the need for glasses or contact lenses in the future. This effect works best for people aged 8-25 as their eyes are still growing. The same pair of lenses can be worn every evening for multiple years, but each year a follow-up checkup will be recommended to ensure they are working properly and still fit your eye well. Ask us about a FREE 15-minute consultation to see if these amazing Ortho-K lenses will work for you!
